Very Unusual Lionel/Madison Hardware #3662 Milk Car Set/OB+

Shown here is a very unusual Lionel #3662 Operating Milk Car Set that we 'assume' was packaged as such by Madison Hardware in the middle 1960s.
This is only the 4th example we have ever seen in all of our years of Collecting; note another example has been previously photographed, and will be featured in an upcoming Train Collector Quarterly article.
Assumption is that Madison had on-hand inventory of Milk Car items, an old-supply of Original Lionel Labels from the later 1940s, and unusual Boxes possibly from a delivery by a supplier other than Lionel dated 9/63. Initiative was then taken by management to 'Box' some items, and ultimately offer them for sale on Madison's mailing list.
Our Opinion is that the Lot averages overall Excellent Plus Condition.
