Mint/Crated Lionel #D-292 8 x 8 Super O Display Layout

This is the D-292 Lionel Super O Dealer Display Layout from the early 1960s. This is the largest Display Layout ever catalogued by Lionel, as well as one of the most desirable, and consists of two 4' x 8' sections that bolt together. It can operate four trains at the same time, as well as two separate bumper tracks for motorized units. It is still crated, never used. Looking through the viewing holes cut into the cardboard areas of the crate, the layout appears to be clean, bright, undamaged, unused. There are no signs of water damage or moisture, although the crate shows both (one switch shows some rust, but the balance of the tracks look clean and shinny). The layout is crated so the layout's "bottoms" are facing outwards, while the display's tops are facing each other. So any seepage from the crate would be on the bottoms, and not visible on the tops. But there is no signs of any seepage from the crate or the bottoms that can be viewed. One area of the crate is torn around the edge of one of the tops, and there is minor wear and signs of age in this area (pictured). Whatever is loose (mainly lichen) is at the bottom of the crate. Dimensions: 29 x 51 x 99. The mountain seems to be virtually perfect, except for one area that appears to be split from its post from age. The bottoms of the accessories that Lionel included with this display look unused and perfect. Whether the "tops" of the accessories, and assorted small pieces for them, are somewhere boxed up inside the mountain is unknown, or even if they are included. As per Lionel's practice, train sets and cars shown are NOT INCLUDED. You are getting whatever Lionel crated back in the 1960s. Looks to be the nicest one ever offered for sale. But it is sold AS IS, with no warranties. The Display needs to be picked up at our Pittsburgh Warehouse within 30 days of the date of the auction. Pennsylvania Sales Tax will be paid unless you have a valid Resale Certificate.
