Great Lionel 1955 8' x 8' D-148 Dealer Layout

This is the #D-148 8' x 8' (two pieces) Dealer Display Layout that Lionel made circa 1955. Was purchased by the original owner's father after the 1955 Season from the Roanoke Virginia Sears.
Our Opinion is that it is generally in Excellent Condition. The Original Tunnel has two areas where it is splitting, the top platform has original roadbed and grass paint, but most of the trees are modern replacement. All Wiring is Original, all the Accessories are original to the piece, as are the bridges (we haven't found the two sections of track that would go on the bridges, but we think they are in a different box).
When the Original Owner got the layout, the Sears had added a skirt around the edge of it that featured an American Flyer S Gauge oval track with siding. We would include this addition to the lot, but it is obviously not original to the D-148. The edges of the D-148 may have been touched up in places and had holes drilled to allow the skirt to be installed. Includes Wood Legs, which we are not sure are the original (the layout was pictured by us while sitting on two folding tabes).
Mostly All Original in our Opinion. Please note that we will neither pack nor ship this lot; it must be picked up at our warehouse within 20 days of the date of the auction. |
